Scripture Snippet - Ecclesiastes 2:11
"Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of Spirit, and there was no profit under the sun."
I call this Scripture snippet 'a life of purpose'. To read the full chapter click here. Here are the thoughts
that this passage evoked in me:
- After spending most os his life gathering wealth and labouring for material things the King discovers that these are not what matter.
- I pray that this is not the way the end of my life will go. As I look back I hope that I will be able to say that I did some good, I helped someone and I made a difference. It's not what you have or how much you've attained but what you have done that makes a difference. Wealth passes away. Goodness and influence are forever.
- You are not remembered for what you had but for what you did.
Heavenly Father, please help me to acquire and do the things in this life so that at the end I can hear you say, 'Well done, thou good and faithful servant'. Amen
